The Story

The group prepares to leave Vondar in pursuit of the caravan containing the fragment of the talisman. Quodus suggests that his arcane knowledge can assist us to move faster than the horses can. After a discussion it is decided to follow Quodus's suggestion, Norvaan sacrifices a pair of magical vambraces as components to enable the summoning of the magical steeds along our trek.

The first two days of travel go much quicker than would normally be possible on horseback. Towards the end of the second day of travel the party finds its route cutting through a thick forested area (even in the dead of winter), as the end of the day approached only one clearing suitable for a nights rest is found. As the group enters the clearing it appears someone else had found the same clearing. A long dead camp fire and a pack of supplies mark the remains of a camp. Adran and Laphane search the supplies and examine the fire and determine that this glade has been abandoned for about two weeks.

As the implications of this is discussed three eladrin hail the group as they approach. The more perceptive of the group notices a faint whispering but are unable to determine where the source is. Quodus, using his arcane senses, notices that these eladrin are using some sort of illusion and shouts a warning to his new companions. Several small dryads emerge from the forest to aid the faux eladrin in their attach on the party. Though in their element the dryads are dispatched quickly. As the battle winds down Adran's movements take him into a position that allows him to get a bead on the strange whispering.

The party follows Adrans direction up a small cliff face. On the rise they find another cliff, this one has a door cleverly set into the side of the stone cliff. Oona's skill with locks is no match for the door and Norvaan bashes the door in to gain entry. Descending into the chamber a sickly smell that was faintly evident outside gets worse as the party descends. An antechamber at the bottom of the stairs is filled with rubble and a set of doors barely hang on their hinges showing an eladrin burial chamber. Laphane is overcome by the stench that seems to emanate from a large pit in the burial chamber.

The quiet is broken by a bellow from a troll from within the burial chamber. The party moves into action and dispatch the troll with relative ease. A search of the rooms reveal a storeroom with potions and potion making equipment, two sarcophagi and recent remains in the pit with the stench emanating from it. Adran also spots several giant spiders hiding high up in the ceiling of the antechamber.

Adran and Oona start to clear out the spiders and two undead eladrin rise from the sarcophagi. During the battle Adran learns that although the appear as undead eladrin his divine abilities that target undead have no effect on them. Quodus perceives that these are also illusions. After the tomb is cleared out the group returns to the clearing to settle down for a nights rest.
