Background

Oona is a brooding and driven dwarf. He learned blacksmithing and other crafting skills from Heke and Aeri, the only adults of his clan he has really known. They raised Oona and four 'cousins' (Binsas, Ronir, and the twins Lerri and Lumo) after fleeing their clans original home in Gallantria, finally settling in Portland. He and his cousins learned to fight from anyone willing to teach them (Heke and Aeri were crafters not fighters), Oona spent quite a bit of time with a cadre of Continental Elves shortly before he left home.

Description

Oona is traditionally a name given to female dwarves (though spelled Oonah it is pronounced the same). Though not one for dressing up often for special occasions, Oona is usually dressed in a traditional kilt with the tartan of his clan and usually looks presentable. He wears a medallion of Zeilta around his neck as the only affectation of his faith. He has a chunk taken out of his nose at the bridge, and an ugly scar running from his right shoulder to the small of his back.

Early History

The Stoneforge clan and the Blackiron clan had been allies for as long as both clans existed. Rornok Blackiron was a legendary hero that saved Oedo Stoneforge's fledgling clan from an Orc attack that cost Rornok his shield hand. Oedo crafted a replacement using lost dwarven runic magic. Years later Rornok retired and married Oedo's eldest daughter and established a clan in the hills near the struggling Stoneforge clan. Though neither clan ever reached prominence both supported the other when the need arose.

The Stoneforge became known for their crafting skills, though few were produced each fetched a great price. The Blackiron clan became known as honorable warriors. All was well until Oona was an infant, for reasons unknown to the Stoneforge clan the Blackirons invaded and crushed the Stoneforge clan. A few of Stoneforge escaped with as many younglings as possible. Oona was raised by two of those that escaped (his parents were among the rearguard that bought the time for them to escape), raised on a history of a dead clan and nursing his fellows enmity of the injustice done to them.

Knowing that the few dwarves that call themselves Stoneforge had no chance against the now prospering Blackiron clan, Oona and the six young Stoneforge that grew up together vowed to bring about the fall of the Blackiron clan. Oona struck off as an adventurer to gain expertise in combat, learn what he can of what happened to cause the Blackiron's to turn on their allies, and if possible gain allies.
