April 20, 2012 – Out of the Shadowfell

• 12 Decitis 1444 - The party returns once again to the Prime of Keedrah

The Story

The party is not so carefully navigating through the mountain pass lead by their guide Havaar of the Vistani. After the group makes it past the jagged terrain a wave of dark necrotic energy washes through us and we make sight of a massive draconic skeleton in the bottom of a crater. Havaar informs us he needs to perform the ritual to get us home from the highest point in the crater. As he says this the skeletal from of a normal sized dragon appears in the mouth of a small cave in the side of the mountain that forms the far side of the crater. With a cry of "Haslith", Havaar scurries to a place of safety as we prepare for the dracolich.

The battle was not easy, but we managed to destroy the foul undead dragon. A quick exportation of the cave the dracolich emerged from revealed:

• 540 gold pieces
• 2 diamonds (100 gold each)
• 1 sapphire (100 gold each)
• 1 small statuette of the death god in a dark wood (250 gold)
• and a small cache of magical items

As Havaar prepares to cast the ritual to help us get home he discovers that Madam Saz has supplied her own lifeblood as a component. With a prayer to Bahamut and a false start a portal to our home is opened beneath the gigantic dragon skeleton, as we see the same figure we encountered in the maze beneath the graveyard when we entered this dismal place.

The party jumped through the portal only find themselves sliding down the side of a mountain. Adran and Norvaan are able to arrest their descent before reaching the lip of a ravine. Oona and Laphane, however, were not as fortunate. Oona fell the 30 feet to the bottom landing on his feet with a bone crunching impact, only to see Laphane crash next to him in an unconscious heap. Laphane is brought back to consciousness but is hanging on by the barest of threads. Even in his condition Laphane manages to scale the side of the ravine with the help of Norvaan and Adran, with Oona scampering up after him.

Catching our collective breath our situation becomes clear, it is the dead of winter and we have left our winter clothing far behind. Oona hands out the dwarven biscuits in the hopes this hearty, but tasteless, foodstuff will fortify him and his companions. Making our way down the mountain we come to the aviary of the Rock Knights, closed up and silent.

After a very cautious entry by Norvaan and Oona, we find the outpost abandoned in an orderly fashion quite some time ago. Spending the night in the tower of the aviary we then proceeded into Danberg. The city is crowded with refugees and after some awkward questions we discover that we were though killed by the explosion that propelled us into the Shadowfell....3 years ago.

We also discover the following:

• Monsters (demons) spewed from the hole left by the explosion that happened when we killed de Agueda
• The king was gravely injured by demons (and is still recovering)
• The de Agueda's forces have taken over significant portions of the kings land but has turned his eye to the north
• All trade has ground to halt
• Tarse a paladin of Morlander is fighting for de Agueda
• The Blackiron clan has also joined de Agueda though the Torian dwarves are still loyal and have held out so far
