Insel Elf

Known in Elven as Nirvasana, or "Exiled", Insel Elves, also known sometimes as just Elves, live on the small island of Insel, located to the east of Andel Boum. They were exiled by the Continental Elves centuries ago, and have been ostracized by other races for centuries. It wasn't until the Battle of Windfall that they started gaining wide acceptance among the other races, and started to associate more with the people on the continent.

History

Insel Elves once lived in peace with the Continental Elves in the Forest Realm, the large forest east of Gallantria. Over the years, several family lines lost their close ties to the magic of the Feywild. Those families were banished from the forest, and moved west, finding hostile human tribes dotting the land. They continued until they met the sea. There they made boats and colonized a large island they named Insel. The Insel elves got a reputation as savages for brutally killing any trespassers to the island, thus many dared not venture to Insel.

With the founding of the Striking Stone Monastery, the rage of the Insels subsided, as they devoted themselves to a more ascetic way of life. Over the centuries, Insels even softened to visitors and are generally more agreeable to outsiders then Continental Elves.

Leadership

Insel Elves are lead by a king, known as the Avery. The current Avery is Garroway Fremont.

Locations

After years of isolationism, the Greater Races War reintroduced the Insel Elves in large numbers to the people of the continent. They have even started settling in greater numbers on the continent, primarily in Gallantria near Windfall, and along the southern coast of Cordoba in the Canton Kingdom.

Insel

Insel still remains the primary settlement of the Insel Elves. Insel is actually made up of several small islands just west off the coast of Andel Boum. The largest island, Insel, has the settlement of Nirvaset on it, the capital of their small community. Nirvaset has a small port. It is home of the Elf Home, the first stone structure built on Insel, and now the home of the Avery.

Elflin

The next largest island is Elflin, just to the west of insel. Elflin has a small settlement on the north end of the island, and the striking stone monastery to the south.

Nirvaset East

Located to the east of Windfall Valley, Nirvaset East was settleld by Lysander Ulgar and the Elven Guard after the Greater Races war. They have been left mostly alone by the people of Gallantria, and stand as first line of defense against the fel creatures that still roam the ruins of Windfall.

Cordoba

Several small insel settlements dot the southern coast of the Vassal State of Cordoba. These settlements cropped up after the Greater Races War. The Duchess Louisa Abrantes invited several of the elves after hearing how valiantly they protected her father during the war and granted several of them land. While a somewhat unpopular move, the elves have mostly kept to themselves, and have created several small but important fishing communities along the Mesothalassa.

Elf Ruby

Atop Elf Home is a large shimmering ruby. Measuring 2 feet by 2 feet, the ruby is said to contain the life force of the elven people, and is said to be the reason of the elves long lifespans. The Elf Ruby was carried by the elves across the continent, and sometimes seen as the reason for the brutality that existed on Insel for many years. Shortly after reaching the island, the gem went missing, and the elves of insel became very insular and untrusting of any visitors to the island.

It was during this time that the Aegean Elves split of from the Insels, who believed their mad obsession with such materialistic things would lead to their downfall.

The Striking Stone Monastery recovered the gem from a crazed demon that lived on Elflin island, after it's recovery, the savage nature of the elves subsided.

Aegean Elves

An off-shoot of the original families that made up the Insel elves, the Aegean Elves of the northern Aeg continent are physically indistinguishable from their Insel cousins. They live in a manner simpler with their people before the split from the Continental elves - close knit communities consisting primarily of related families.
