| December 2, 2011 – Family Traditions (Part 2): Goblins of the Ruins | |

Events
Ivon's family farm was being destroyed and someone or something was taking the olives from the trees and destroying the trees. The party agreed to assist the family and investigated the farm. Adran, using his keen, pointy elf-senses, were able to spot some small footprints. As they investigated the trail further, the prints appeared to be small humanoid type, and Adran also spotted a small handprint. Tracking the creatures into the forest, the trail lead the party to a river. They needed to cross the river, so Ivon conjured up a strange disk and floated across, Adran and Norvaan braved the waters to make it. Oona and Laphane found a sandbar and tried to cross, when suddenly a strong gust and rapids opened up and they were washed down stream. Norvaan threw a rope which Laphane was able to grab and make it across. Using careful aim, Norvaan tried to get Oona, but wasn't close enough, and had to try again, this time successful.
The party tracked the footprints to an abandoned house, now being used by a small contingent of goblins. The battle was swift as the party took care of goblins with little trouble. During the battle as the goblin bezerker was going to hit Oona, Laphane spotted a weakness and killed the creature before it could attack Oona. With the battle won, the party found a small trapdoor. It was locked, and unfortunately there was nary a thief to be found, so they decided to pursue a more physical route. A large rock and a bit of rope, made for an excellent door-breaker.
After climbing down the party found a cavern, and proceeded with caution. They reached small bridge crossing some water, when an explosion caused a cave-in, burying most of the party. They dug out and proceeded on. Laphane jumped across the water to land on solid ground...Which collapsed causing him to fall in a spiked pit. That was when they were ambushed by more goblins and a goblin Wight.
The battle was fierce, but not too problematic. With the wight killed, the remaining goblin surrendered. It was the goblins stealing the olives to eat. The remaining goblin gave up some treasure and was let go with the promise they would leave this area.
Returing back to Ivon's family, the party told them about the goblins, and that the monsters have been removed as a threat to thier crops.
The party moved on, and went for a visit with Norvaan's family. Tension rose when his brother opened the door. After a bout of verbal sparring, Norvaan and the party were let inside and met with his father, Wilaam Jehms Longard. That night after dinner, it was revealed that Saxon mother was actually related to Norvaan and that they were cousins. The party also learned that Saxon's father was a merchant, trading wares on shipping lanes, and their boat was sunk by pirates. The party members agreed to join a ship in hopes that the pirates may attack, in order to find out what happened to Saxon's family.
